How We Serve

The Nutrition Center

The Urban Mission Campus is located in the largest food desert in St. Joseph. The Nutrition Center provides much needed food to more than 22,000 families annually. As a food rescue program, the center is dependent fully on donations from local grocery stores, community members and is operated by volunteers.

The Re-Entry Program

Each month 40 prisoners released from prison in St. Joseph stay in the community, either for legal reasons or because it was their home before prison. Many who stay, have only the clothes on their back and nowhere to go. The Crossing is partnering to ensure re-entry includes structure, stable shelter and job-readiness training.

Workforce Development

Starting in 2021, The Crossing will launch more training and workforce development opportunities. Plans are in progress for adding a commercial kitchen and geo-thermal greenhouse. Both will provide education, job training and supply food for other Crossing programs.
